Before starting Walking Around I had been a professional dog walker for four years and have found much of my walking is helping people who feel they do not have the time to exercise or those who have a disablement that is a barrier to walking.
If you need more motivation to walk the Heart Foundation states walking may have a range of beneficial outcomes including managing blood pressure and cholesterol, reducing risk of heart disease, reduction in the risk of developing some cancers, maintaining bone density and reducing risk of diabetes. It may also make you feel more energetic and happier.
Most people can safely take up walking but it is best to check with your doctor before starting if you are unsure about your health.
